man was arrested in Miami after being caught trying to smuggle rare live birds in his underwear.
According to charging documents, a man identified as Alberto Hernandez Castillo had 10 birds stuffed into his underpants.
He was intercepted on Sunday after customs officers noticed an “unexplained bulge on the front of his pelvis/waist area”.
A pat-down revealed six plastic tubes sewn into his underwear containing eight yellow-faced grassquits and two blue grosbeaks.
Mr Castillo, 40, reportedly told officers the birds were for his personal use. He was later released after posting $25,000 (£18,900) bail.
Two days later, Perez Quincosa, 41, was intercepted using a bespoke belt fitted with hair roller tubes to smuggle six Cuban melodious finches and five Cuban bullfinches.
Both men have been charged with smuggling.
According to an affidavit, Mr Quincosa planned to sell the birds for up to $120 each.
