FORMER MOSSAD OFFICIAL: ERDOĞAN'S TURKEY IS ISRAEL'S NEXT STRATEGIC THREAT
Sagiv Asulin, a former senior Mossad official and researcher at the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs, warns that Turkey is no longer just another regional player, but a rising power seeking to lead the Sunni axis alongside Qatar.
According to Asulin, the combination of Turkey's growing military capabilities and Qatar's influence and information warfare creates a significant strategic threat to Israel. "We must take President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statements against Israel seriously and maintain sustained diplomatic pressure on the United States, especially as some in Washington view Turkey as a strategic partner alongside Israel," he says. Asulin argues that the very discussion in Washington about strengthening Ankara's position should raise serious concerns in Jerusalem, even if a potential F-35 deal remains far from becoming reality.
