One of my favourites, Le Retour de Martin Guerre. Subtitles working a treat. https://fsharetv.cc/w/the-return-of-martin-guerre-episode-1-tt0084589 I always thought hang on you'd know wouldn't you, but the suspension of disbelief is strong in this one (film) It's loosely based on a true story. WHich is a bonus as 'it's true' Incredible cast and performances. Depardieu at his finest and his 'wife' deliciously played by the delicious Nathalie Baye, is delicious. THe story inspired 'Sommersby' with Richard Gere and Jodie Foster, that had its moments, but nothing on the shear spectacle, quality and gritty realism of the original.
