Mugwump. Great word,, "Mugwump": A term that originally dates back to the 1880s, referring to an independent politician who doesn't stick to one party. It has also popped up in folklore (like the Lake Timiskaming monster) and in pop culture (e.g., William S. Burroughs' Naked Lunch)
