Social query. What would you do here? I have a mate, who I went to school with and so have known for 40 odd years. His first wife was a Cunt and didn't like me (or anyone else much) so we lost touch for years. He remarried and about ten years ago we reacquainted and started seeing him and his new wife quite a bit socially. That's cooled a little in the last few years, & become less frequent. Seen them two or three times a year in the last few. So his dad died and the funeral was yesterday. I knew his dad well and he was very good to me when I was young so I delayed going back to Andorra so I could go to the funeral. His missus told me that there wasn't going to a wake after (the family are fractured and they tend to keep apart). Then she said that they're going back to a local pub for 45 mins or so if we wanted to come. So we go to the funeral, and then to the pub, where the only other people were three friends of theirs (who we know but not very well) and his son and daughter in law. Had a couple of drinks and a chat with everyone and then they all get up to go for a meal in a poncy local restaurant. We had not been invited to the meal (everyone else had) One of their friends, and my mate's son expressed surprise that we weren't going so we made an excuse but it was quite embarrassing. We were the only one's not told about the restaurant. Outside in the car park, the wife (who it appears had arranged this) said mine "We'll get together soon" Now his missus often asks me to bring medication from Andorra, where it's off prescription and I am pretty sure that I'll be getting a text soon asking for a refill and suggesting me meet up. I am inclined to tell her to Fuck off. But I've known him all my life. Thoughts? Edited on 11/02/2026 at 12:57:57.
