The cockerel, named Colonel, has angered neighbours in the Norfolk village of Aldeby. Sue Farthing, the bird’s 58-year-old owner, said she had been threatened with a community protection notice by South Norfolk council over the noise. Colonel is locked in a coop overnight, and Ms Farthing, an artist, has blacked out the windows to try to prevent him from crowing at the crack of dawn. But the owner – who does not know who the complainant is – said the row was “insanity” because Colonel only crowed once in the morning and twice during the day.
