Bumped into my old mate Stephan while out on the bike ... He's Nicois, 65, worked on yachts for years, was skipper on a Sunseeker based in Golfe Juan, which is how we met. Now does bugger all. Well sometimes he's kite surfing. Was thinking about the contrast with my mate Bob who was here a week or so ago. Bob owns two properties in SE England, has a civil service pension, but seems stressed with money etc. Steph lives in a rented studio in a cheap part of Nice, don't think he's ever owned property. Which is true of many here. I wonder who is more content.
