As well as diversity managers they have net zero managers…
Who of course achieve er….. zero
Green managers All 229 NHS trusts and 42 local health boards have been told to appoint senior managers to take the lead on making care greener. Services are told to have a leader responsible for “net zero clinical transformation”, which means making the care patients receive more environmentally friendly.
The latest medical advances, the environmental credentials of technology and innovations will also have to be demonstrated in order for them to be used.
The health service already requires manufacturers and innovators to demonstrate how they will cut carbon emissions as part of a 135-part questionnaire, but this will increase from 2027, requiring them to report publicly on their “targets, emissions, and a plan to reduce them”.
This requirement also applies to NHS digital services as part of a new “key principle” for developers. At the same time, the Government has committed to reforming the NHS and shifting it from analogue to digital, creators have been told to “design to protect the environment”.
The NHS is also developing a “behaviour change plan” that will encourage staff to prioritise “low carbon” and reusable or recyclable products, and also train staff to “adopt more sustainable practices”.
