For years, Marks & Spencer has been one of the country’s most beloved purveyors of women’s undergarments, prioritising supportive lingerie that boosts comfort at high-street prices. The 142-year-old department store is the hallmark of reliable fashion, with a third of the nation’s women opting to buy their underwear there, and an M&S bra selling every two seconds. However, its latest offering of crotchless lingerie has raised a few eyebrows. Amid a wider push to attract a younger customer base, the department store has taken to selling a range of Ann Summers lingerie – including 19 “crotchless” pieces. A new collaboration means customers can now find one multipack of three “flirty” lace crotchless thongs for £20, or a pair of crotchless sheer tights which promise to combine the “sultry styling of traditional stockings and suspenders with the convenience of tights”.
