Got a knock on the door last night, neighbour opposite 'choking to death',. gave him the hymlick manoure

a few times, nothing came out. He's eaten a grilled aubergene. He couldn't breath but crucially, 'wasn't blue'.

I told his two guests to call 911! The americans advised local help would be faster and ransfered the call to frnace and the French equivilent. It took over 45 minutes for an ambulance (pompiers), who didn't do a lot other than take his blood pressure and details from his carte vital. But 10 minutes later a car with 3 medics arrived. As they took down his details it turns out Philip (llppe?) was born in Nice.

He's a nice guy, lost his finger tips and a couple entirely from frostbite when mountaineering, but still manages to play Chopin (on the piano).

I left the medics to it, plus my neigbour to the left who had come back from the gym mid crisis and bought out a knive and a pen in case we had to perform an emergency tracotemy. He had history ... when in hospital for his frostbite they'd had a tube down his throat but 'it got infected' and he needed a tracotemy due to inflamation. The idea of performing a manoeuvre out of pulp fiction albeit not with a needle to the heart but cutting a hole in his throat (just cut me where the scar is) meant we were all releaved to see the medics blue lights.

He called me half an hour later, I'm fine, and at home!

side note, another near neighbour, her brother lives in Nice. Also, Nice is twinned with Cousance, and Kabul.
