My memories of Saigon…. We stayed at a 5 star hotel, arrived stinking after an overnight bus and were shown

to the business floor as we’d booked a suite (was about $40). Sat there noshing the buffet breakfast surrounded by Western businessmen (and a famous UK politician whose name now escapes me) until our room was ready.
To get to the tourist area we had to walk down a yuk street that was strewn with hypodermics and human 💩, not great when you’re in sandals.
Lot of dubious types about, very young girls selling cigarettes to blokes who seemed far too chatty with them. Clubs full of old dorises you wouldn’t.
We did find an art gallery that had super pics for sale, didn’t buy as the one we both liked was not for sale, though eventually the proprietor said we could have it for $40k….
The tunnels are a must but claustrophobic and hot. Enjoyed all the Yanks watching the film they showed there with a young girl getting her “Moat Esteemed American Killer” medal.
And had a go on an AK47.
Was happy to leave.
