Climate change fears could fuel drug use, claims health watchdog UK Health Security Agency warns Britons at risk of being gripped by ‘eco-fear, eco-anger and eco-grief’
Fears over climate change could fuel drug use, according to a government report.
The UK Health Security Agency said Britons were at risk of being gripped by “eco-fear, eco-anger and eco-grief”, and that their mental well-being could be damaged by “difficult climate emotions”.
The report by the agency, overseen by the Department of Health and Social Care, suggested that emotional troubles linked to climate change could lead to drug abuse.
One section assessed the mental anguish suffered by victims of flooding, drought, and wildfires, as well as by those who have an “overarching awareness” that climate change is happening.
