They're still interpreting religious texts from 1200 years ago,, and try to fit the present US / Israel narrative onto the end times prophecy from back in the day. The Madhi will appear to destroy the perpetrators of injustice and oppression ( Iranians presently believe that this means US / Israel ) Jerusalem is also significant as is the site from which Mohammed ascended to heavan and where ( end times ) Jesus will return. It is a massive leap of faith to be honest. More so than most religions. Nutjobs but that is what can happen if you read the same book too often. Personally i think participants are being played by Israel for A. The canal through Gaza B. A greater Israel spanning the whole Middle East.
