Mostly myth. Dynamic pricing is real—fares shift with demand, seat inventory & fare buckets selling out—but
no credible evidence supports individual "intent scores," device fingerprinting or repeated searches hiking *your* price. Google Flights, Going.com & Thrifty Traveler tested it extensively (hundreds/thousands of searches) no effect. The neighbor likely searched at a different time. VPN/incognito/clean browser tricks rarely help beyond occasional regional point-of-sale diffs (hit-or-miss). Use alerts & compare sites instead
