it's always been a bête noir of mine when people slip french into a conversation and assume everyone will follow. i'm listening to this and go back to check and post here. giles bandwidth does not pull him up on it, I guess he knows maybe but that's not the point, most of his readers won't. I could just go around sliping in chinese into conversation. ok ya perhaps not chinese, a bit of portuguese why not, because everyone speaks portuguese ya doncha know. anyway, this is a good example of it, it comes out of nowhere with little context and is not particularly emphasised. it's a great phrase no doubt, which is what a lot of french is good for, a succinct summation of summat or other, but come on, what's wrong with giving listeners a translation immediately after.
