US food standards are crap. Too many big political contributors own the abattoirs etc. I have had more
stomach problems in the USA than I had in India ( none )
U.S. abattoirs and meat processing facilities are highly consolidated, with over 80% of America's beef and the vast majority of pork and poultry controlled by a few massive, multinational corporations: JBS USA: A subsidiary of the Brazilian company JBS S.A. (the world's largest meatpacker). It is a dominant player in U.S. beef, pork, and poultry processing. Tyson Foods: A publicly traded U.S. company, and one of the largest meat and poultry processors in the world. Cargill: A privately held, Minnesota-based global food corporation that controls a significant portion of the U.S. beef and poultry supply chains. Smithfield Foods: The largest pork producer and processor in the U.S., owned by the Chinese holding company WH Group.National Beef Packing Co.: The fourth largest beef processor in the U.S., controlled by the Brazilian beef producer Marfrig Global Foods.
