I've always had the suspicion that by the time I reach the retirement age the state pension would either no longer exist, or would be a small flat rate given to all, irrespective of contribution.
However, when I found out about this 'offer' and crunched the numbers I was quite surprised. The full state pension is currently equivalent to a £239,460 fund yielding 5.00%. If the 'Pension Lock' is to continue, it might be worth my while buying in.
