It's a pity the Tories hijacked the adjective 'conservative' as the name for their political party. For a long time it worked, under Thatcher et al. It's now tainted though as they clearly failed to conserve, which is a real pity because conservistim is all about .. conserving!! Heritage, tradition, style, maner, comportement, legacy, history, standards, behaviour, etc. Now everyone of a 'conservative' nature - think before acting, prudence, self-awareness, balance, realistic realism, a sense of history and place, is 'right wing'! The Tories highjacking the adjective 'conservative' has damaged today's political landscape - the best adjective to describe someone's sentiment has been stolen, taken from them, and they are now labelled 'right wing'., or worse 'far right'.
