one of these caught my eye recently, 1978 Pioneer SX1980 for sale for 15 grand.
I'm sure it sounds very good if running properly, weighs about 38kilos.
Thing is I paid 304 pounds for my hifi system that I've been using these last 12months.
And I have to say I wonder how much better it would sound in the lounge if I bought one of these amps, paid a couple of grand for a pair of speakers and a cd player as good as the one I bought for 4hurroooooooooeees, because I have to tell you, the scan dyna 2400, the kef 104/2s and the Sony errr render RadioHead's Hail to the Thief in such a pleasing listening experience way (as you're lay on the floor pulling muscles) I find it hard to believe anything could really be improved.
I mean same room and all ... but that Scandyna is really really great. Literally made for the 104/2, even though Raymond Cooke might not have been aware of it.

Or maybe it's just the best amp I've paired them with that's in my price bracket, and also I got lucky. (i bought the amp and a guitar amp for 100. SOld the guitar amp for 125) so hifi amp cost me nothing (I did pay 30 hueorues to get the guitar amp working, so call it a fiver for the Dyna. WHich would make grand total

300 speakers 1998
4 cd player 2016
5 scan dyna 2023
