yes I'd like to know that too. In fact I think the answer is: we need government to crash the economy,

go cap in hand to the IMF for a bail out, which will be forthcoming subject to stringent compliance, likely rejoin EU, and including possibly dumping the £ and taking on the euro currency.

So the answer is, we don't actually need government, and all the lawyers and bankers who run things. But they do need us. For without us they are ..... a bit like ftd above constantly opines "don't listen to the media, you're better off watching the tour de france" ..... if eveyone just sat around watching cattle on bikes the world would be a very boring uniformed thick place.

Likewise, albeit not really similar, if all there are are lawyers and bankers, with no one else to lord it over and pimp off, they'll quickly begin to fight among themselves,.. and interbreed .. though breeding already pretty much in house.

There's going to be trouble ahead and it is 100% deserved. Trouble being unrest. Really we need Parliament suspended or whatever the fukc King CHarles has to do. Ignore convention of human rights, like everyone else in Europe, fire a huge amount of people, lower taxes, drop vat on pubs, lower business rates on pubs, where rates are charged on turnover not location, and quite a few other things .............. none of which ftd would have an opinion on as not on channel 4 bike riding channel.
