plug? The light socket? U tested new bulb ok I'm guessing. Sounds odd. Can't be the wall switch,. can't
be the ceiling rose/socket, not the bulb as bulb good (you have tested bulb)., and not a trip switch issue.
I conclude, mice. A mouse has gained access to your internal walls and began to eat his way to freedom via a new route. I would suggest knocking down the hall wall initially. Keep knocking down walls until you find the mouse.
When you do, release the creature into a neighbour's flat if not fond of them, otherwise drop it off near the pizza shop., or take it up to the olive tree and make a den for it as summer sun will be harsh I'd imagine.
