Oh dear....
No, the death penalty is not in place for treason in Great Britain (the United Kingdom). It was formally abolished for treason (and piracy with violence) in 1998 under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (Section 36), which replaced it with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Key details:The UK had already suspended the death penalty for murder in 1965, but certain offences like high treason technically retained it until the full abolition in 1998. The last execution for treason was in 1946 (William Joyce, "Lord Haw-Haw"). Treason remains a criminal offence under old laws like the Treason Act 1351, but the penalty is now life imprisonment (or a shorter term). A whole-life order is possible for the most serious cases.

This is reinforced by the UK's commitments under the European Convention on Human Rights (Protocol 13), which prohibits the death penalty in all circumstances.

There have been occasional calls or petitions to reinstate it, but no such change has occurred or is active as of 2026. Recent cases (e.g., related to threats against the monarch) have resulted in prison sentences, not capital punishment.
