I was thinking generally. that is the mantra, and then people (least away from micro climate down there)

change in haste repent at leisure, as they are cold and electic bills high.
Insulating the walls from the inside is good., but reduces space, must be done right to eliminate moisuture transfer, and lose any and all (most) attractive interior feature. The state even insist you double insulate party walls with your neighbour 'if case the neighbours not there and his house gets cold!!!' (if you want a grant they insis on this.)
Insulating from the outside with foam panels, see what the wall looks like in 20 years (moldly being the word you're looking for)
