CIA director travels to Moscow for secret talks US tells Ukraine to halt air strikes on Russian capital as John Ratcliffe flies in on military plane The director of the CIA travelled to Russia in a military plane on Tuesday for talks. John Ratcliffe arrived on a US air force Boeing C-17 Globemaster transport plane, which was seen flying above Moscow. A US motorcade stopped traffic in the Russian capital later the same day. It is unclear who Mr Ratcliffe was travelling with or planning to meet. The visit is his first known trip to Moscow since he became head of the CIA. Before the visit, Washington told counterparts in Ukraine to suspend its strikes on Russia until the delegation had left, according to reports. The train Mr Ratcliffe travelled on departed Moscow hours after he arrived. The brief visit coincided with a US intelligence report warning that Russia might soon attempt to escalate tensions with Nato by mounting a small land incursion or launching cyberattacks in Eastern Europe.
