Easter weekend hit by blizzards and 90mph winds Severe weather warnings as Storm Dave delivers a last blast of winter to the bank holiday
Heavy snow has fallen over Easter weekend as Storm Dave hit the country with 90mph winds.
Motorists driving through Dalwhinnie, on the western edge of the Cairngorms National Park, which sits about 1,300ft above sea level, faced wintry conditions on Saturday as temperatures plunged to 0C.
Gritting lorries were sent out following the change in weather as forecasters predicted up to 12in (30cm) of snow.
The Met Office issued a yellow severe weather warning in Scotland for heavy snow and blizzards, causing some travel and power disruption. A yellow warning for wind to was upgraded to amber, meaning flying debris could cause “injuries or danger to life”.
