Starmer to fly over 9,000 miles to attend Brazil’s Cop30 climate summit Downing Street says climate change remains ‘urgent priority’ as Green Party surges in polls
Sir Keir Starmer will fly more than 9,000 miles on his round trip to the Cop30 climate summit in Brazil.
Downing Street said climate change remained an “urgent priority” for the Prime Minister as it confirmed his attendance at the annual gathering in Belém next month.
The decision follows weeks of speculation about whether or not Sir Keir would go to the summit, and comes as the Green Party surges in the polls at the expense of Labour.
The Prime Minister’s spokesman said: “The Prime Minister will attend the Cop30 in Belém, Brazil, next month because net zero is the economic opportunity of the 21st century.
