and here's something from the early 70s with a different beat, a better melody, great harmonies, a more

spacious production sound.

I appreciate we can't live in the past but we should treat music like we do battleships. We don't make a new battleship because 'we're tired of the old one' we make a new battleship because 'things have improved vis a vis battleships and a new one will be a lot better'.

If things haven't improved there's no point in releasing any music >/ other than live music events: weddings, gigs etc. just going out to see and hear people play, .. that's legit,. but to actually go out and listen to this at home 'instead of xyz' ... no. It's got to have a reason to come through my speakers, and just because it's new is not a reason. (apart from keeping an eye on state of the art)

Big Barn Bed 'rough mix' (i've checked this out and it's good enough, just lacks some harmonies and the crucial end harmony part, & rhythm guitar. .. which you can repair by listening to the finished version easily enough. But this stripped back bass banging groove is something I want to hear in 2026. I want to hear some mother %&!*@er coming out with music of this quality in 2026, and so far I don't. Maybe i could if I looked harder but I sort of doubt it.
