Well you could argue I've got the ground floor of the barn for that purpose. It's so large and I'm not

planning on doing a lot with it apart from adding a staircase, lime washing the walls. The enemy of men of a certain age is bad knees so getting stuff onto a ground floor is appealing.

The plan for 1st floor:
Bathroom/wc upstairs (currently only in lounge area, behind Picadilly circus picture)
Reduce depth of Beatles room and add 'office' area (at the top of the step ladder landing area from kitchen, remove brick wall add patio door with privacy blinds to allow light in from front of the house (walk through office to get to Beatles bedroom - now same width but only 3.5 meters deep).
It doesn't matter if the bathroom suite is not tip top what's important is that there is a bathroom suite and associated plumbing and electrics already in place.
In an ideal world if I had the hands to do it I'd relocate the stairs to the loft from the current location - stacked above where main lounge stairs are, to the north side of the house, above where kitchen 'step ladder' stairs are. This would allow more room for the new bathroom and also a side (south) window, above where current downstairs window is.
THe stairs to loft would be along side wall. This would be a major job for one person though, and decent budget for the timber. Would need to be dog leg stair to avoid cutting joists. West to east, then turn 90 degrees to south north to come up through the joist space.
