Words to my song about Leonard Cohen…

Mr Miserable

He walks onto the stage
With that bad look upon his face
And looks around the audience
With evident distaste

He ambles to the microphone
and mutters a few words
Then he strums a guitar chord
As bad as you have heard

Then he starts to sing talk
In a crumbling mumbling croak
Never truly hits a note and
Never tells a joke

He’s Mr Miserable
Sings of disaster
And disease
He’s Mr Miserable and
He’s very hard to please

He sings of how the world
Is full of hate and shame
In many many songs
That tend to sound the same

He sells millions of records
To the lonely and the sad
To the people who get pleasure
Our of feeling very bad

His crazy faithful fans
Came out full of hope and zest
They’ll be happy going home tonight
Thoroughly depressed

He’s Mr Miserable
He sings of disaster
And despair
He’s Mr Miserable
And he doesn’t really care

He tells how his wives didn’t
Understand what he has done
But they understood very well
And that is why the’re gone

He tells us how he’s proud
of the 11 kids he’s had
But each and everyone of them
grew up without a dad

He’s Mr Miserable
He sings of disaster
And disease
He’s Mr Miserable
Hates everything he sees

He tells us of his drug filled days
And tells us of his pain
No more coke or scotch today
He can only drink champagne

He tells us how his life
Is full of doom and gloom
Though he has four groupies waiting
In his five star hotel room

He tells us how things for him
Are as bad as they can get
Then he flies off back to Malibu
In his private Gulfstream jet

He’s Mr Miserable
He sings of disaster
And disease
He’s Mr , well you can guess
He will drive you to your knees
